Waitress Recollections

For the workers at the country club this was the worst night ever. Mary Jane,Mary Beth and Doris encountered nighmares at their work place tonight. First of all Mary Beth received six grasshopper drink orders. She cringed to tell Mary Jane about the request. You see, MJ hated the ice cream drink orders that required elbow grease just to release the cement hard Schwan ice cream from the canister. Reluctantly, Mary Beth handed the order to MJ. MJ gave her a look like, "You're kidding me, right!" MJ whipped up the green cream drinks; whereby, Mary Beth proceded to balance the six grasshopper conconctions on a large platter. She hurried down the stairs of the Emmetsburg country club, tripped, and spilled the drinks all over the stairs. Cleaning the green cream from the carpet was not easy, but worse yet, she had to face Mary Jane, and request six more ice cream drinks.

That same night Doris also encountered spills. The twelve top table consisted of Lee Ann's relatives. Lee Ann was a waitress who worked at the country club with MJ, MB, and Doris. The relatives were elated to see Lee Ann's work place. While Doris was serving drinks one by one the platter slanted toward the table. Woops! Oh no! Red grenadine spilled all over Uncle George's polo shirt. Luckily, Uncle George laughed at the incident. The waitress nightmare could not have happened to a better family. Doris was upset, yet the kindness and compassion exhibited by the family, under her duress, will be remembered forever.

Having walked in the shoes of waitresses and waiters,the memory of their first job is never forgotten.Through the years, the Ganoon sisters recall trials and tribulations that took place while working at the Emmetsburg Country Club. Serving food and drinks to the public is not easy. To this day, the Ganoon sisters treat service personnel with compassion and respect.
