    • Even though I am not in a country known for tsunamis, the thought of one coming always freaks me out. One of the biggest reasons is that there is no way to get away from them. Once it comes, no matter how fast you run or drive, you will get caught. At least with other disasters, there is some way to save yourself, like getting under a desk.
Another reason is because when I was really young, I saw that one movie with the really big tsunami and even though everyone in the movie made it, just seeing the Statue of Liberty's head floating underwater at the end just scared me for life. I'm not afraid of water, but if I go to the beach and see a wave bigger than usual, I might start to get goosebumps :).

One thing to remember that may help a bit: It's not the larger than usual waves that are the sign of a possible tsunami that you need to worry about, but the fact that if the ocean suddenly recedes way more than just the normal waves receding, then is when you should run for your life, because there is a tsunami on it's way for sure.
I hope this helps, even if it's just a bit.
