you can't debate how amazing this book is. stimulates the mind and imagination. takes you to a different world where you can discover different aspects of your personality and challenge them one at a time.
Maurice Sendak created this wonderful world for us, Spike Jonze made it visual, and Dave Eggars adds wonderful depth.
I am currently reading The Wild Things by Dave Eggars. some of the context he adds to the story gives it new layers that put you more into this boy's life. where he's coming from, how he thinks of his actions, his reactions to what's going on. relationship with his family and where he lives and how that affects his perception of these monsters. it brings the fantasy of a 12 year old boy more into reality. it helps nostalgia to come back how a child thinks, and you how you remember thinking about your brash and wild decisions. how sloshing buckets around your sister's room is the most efficient way to give her a lesson, how biting your mother is self defense, justifications and dreams of traveling whatever distance to get to where you don't know you want to go.
enough has been said about this story that i need not go on.
