I love Halloween.

Halloween is just so much fun! How can someone not enjoy it?

How many holidays do we have that are just fun? Most of our holidays are religious or in honor of something or someone. Yes I know the neo pagan community has brought back Samhain as a religious holiday. But Samhain and Halloween are very separate from each other now, even if they are the same date. Now Halloween is just fun.

It's an excuse to play dress up! Once you start school it stops being cute when you dress up as a princess or a witch or a fairy. Outside of conventions dressing up as superheroes and anime characters is seen as maybe just a little odd. We really do not have enough excuses to wear costumes anymore.

It's an excuse to give out candy. I like giving people candy. Even if I don't dress up I really enjoy sitting outside with a bucket of candy to give out. I even give candy to the teenagers who come out (but only if they actually put some effort into their costume). I'm one of those kinds of people who give extra candy to people with fantastic costumes.

For the last few years I've lived in apartment buildings so I haven't been able to really take part in the whole trick or treat thing. Whenever I had been working in a store I always had a bucket of candy for kids who'd come in. This year I live in a flat and am really looking forward to Halloween.
