When I got out of art school, I needed a temp job fast, but I would only accept an assignment in a creative environment. I ended up with a secretarial job at an architecture firm in Cambridge, MA for $14K/year (not much even 20 years ago). As it turned out, it was one of the most fun jobs I've ever had because of the people who worked there. Eventually, I moved on to work in publishing in the design department.
