Charity begins at home. Do all your relatives have everything they need?
Once you are sure- then you can also give to other charities.
We give to many charities including Martha's Kitchen and our church. We also volunteer-but since we have a whole bunch of siblings and children who don't have jobs-we think of them first. Our volunteer work is part of a literacy program where I help new little Americans with their reading.
Giving is the most satisfying feeling in the world. Giving rates very high on my favorite things to do. Of course, you cannot give to others unless you have taken good care of your own life first.
Since giving was always important to me, I worked very, very hard for many many years. I even took extra classes and obtained my graduate degree so I could think clearly about my goals and the things that really mattered. Once the work started snowballing and all my goals were met, I knew there would come a time when my knowledge and some of my savings, could assist those less fortunate. When all is said and done, I have no regrets about helping others and I have always given unconditionally-expecting nothing in return.
