      Time Flies

See, this has been a real issue for The JurassiGoth since she's been employment-challenged.

Until more recently than I like to admit, I played tricks on my own mind. Since I don't have to schedule everything around a day job, I get into the fantasy that I have all the time in the world to do things.

So, I putter around the internets. I clean out my junk drawer. I go on an unscheduled coffee date with a friend that was originally supposed to last an hour. Four hours later, I'm hugging my good-byes. I've got all day to get to that other stuff, right?

      Er, no.

Doing things takes time. Somehow, I always seem to block that out. 20 minutes to update my resume and cover letter to fit a job can turn into 1 and 1/2 hours when I want to apply to more than one. A trip to the gym, seemingly innocuous at first, can quickly become an epic journey once I factor in traffic and time to find my favorite work-out pants.

That stuff bites me in the tookus every time.

The best time-management tip I've found? Yesterday's history and tomorrow's a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why we call it "The Present." So, don't beat yourself up over what did or didn't get done.

And as soon as I take my own advice, I'll get back to ya'.
