1) Photography
I took my first photo class in high school and I have never been the same! It started with black and white photos that we developed ourselves at school. After that I was always walking around with a camera even if it was just a point and shoot. It's hard to take super amazing pictures with a camera like that but I think that my snapshots were pretty stellar as far as snapshots go. I took thousands of pictures toward the end of high school and early in college.

I did finally get a basic SLR camera at the end of 2007 or early 2008. For a few months I was taking a crazy amount of pictures and I really enjoyed it. I have gone back through my photos recently and found that many of my favorites were taken around March 2008 when my camera was new and shiny. My shooting has almost completely ceased since then but occasionally it does get out. A few of the times it was taken out to take pictures as a gift to my friends.

I find that I like to take pictures of the outdoors but I am always trying to push the composition a little bit so that it is not just a picture of a hill or whatever it is. I think that it is a much bigger challenge to take photos of other people. I have tried it a few times with acceptable results (the subjects were thrilled though).

I guess that in the end my only regret is that more of my friends weren't better at taking pictures. There are pictures of me doing awesome things in general but there are few *awesome pictures* of me doing awesome things. Oh well.

2) Writing
I'm not sure if I am very _creative_ but I do think that I am a fairly expressive writer. This is especially true considering that I have been trained as an engineer and not as a writer. Perhaps in time I will get more creative but for now I just like to get my stories written down, thought out, and put in one spot. In time I may take these stories and turn them into speeches, or a book, or who knows what. Writing these Plinky Prompts for the last couple days has really taken my mind off things because they are good questions that are fun and easy to answer.
