• Stuff I Just Can't Throw Away
    • This Week's Camera Additions

I cannot and will not throw away pictures. Not now, not ever. Even pictures that I found in my Grandmother's basement after she died - and I don't even know who more than half the people are in them - I cannot (and did not) throw them away.

Pictures are our history and tell so much more of the story that gets lost in the verbal telling. They are windows into the soul, but not of the photographed subject in my opinion. They are the window into the soul of the photographer him or herself. They have made a conscious decision to capture that moment in time and to save it in a solid form. And why? That is the main question and the answer is only in the heart and soul of the photographer.

For that reason digital photography is more my enemy than my friend these days. I want to capture it all! I want to show others the beauty, the comedy, the love that I see and feel while I am clutching my camera. But now I can keep clicking away and the choices no longer feel like choices. They are random thoughts at best...and they weigh heavily on my mind waiting for a place of honor.
