Happy Valentine's Day and All My Love to My Dear Flickr Friends!

I really like Valentine's Day. I like it because it's origins are from the early days of Christendom, and the person who's name the holiday bears was a martyr for the faith. St. Valentine took a stand, he stuck to it, and even though he was imprisoned for his stand, it didn't turn him to a bitter, angry man. Rather, it caused him to write words of love and encouragement - which came to be called 'Valentines' - to those who chose to follow Christ. There are thousands of martyrs whose names we don't know, but because Valentine sent the heart of Christ's love to others, we still remember his name today. And because it is love we are talking about, no matter how far we may get from the original meaning, I think the day, and St Valentine, will be remembered far into the future.
