I consider myself a feminist, so I know that applauding chivalry is not exactly current with the times.

But, having basically been raised in a barn, as they say, I find chivalry delightful. It's not readily available these days, but it does show up now and then. And whoever dishes it out gets gold stars from me.

It's quite obvious by now that women are capable of doing most things themselves if they want to, ginormous physical tasks notwithstanding. So if someone chooses to be chivalrous to a woman (or a man, if so inclined), it's because he wants to, not because the woman is inept.

Chivalry is a close friend of romance, in my book. And any friend of romance is a friend of mine.
