“@Lord_Voldemort7: Almost St. Patrick's day. I support excessive use of the color green & general shananigans but refuse to celebrate a guy who hated snakes.”
I do celebrate Saint Patrick's Day. I don't know why, and i'm more Scot than irish so that precludes me from just being a drunken menace for the sake of "la raza". No, it's a time to get together and go out drinking; sport some green, and see where that takes you. The Tom Foolery that comes with sneaking kisses or breaking the law is just icing on the cake. My goal is to get out, get back without a DUI and see some friends for some good healthy fun in the interim.
Some of the BEST Saint Patrick's Day events that i've been privy to:
1. Downtown River Street in Savannah, Georgia: walks along a cobble street that butts up agains the river bring dixie cups and hurricanes, toasting Jameson on the rocks on boats with elderly couples who have been wed for years on end, cruising in cars; clubbing, Irish Food and more. This place has a great showing for their SAINT Paddy's day festivities. If you are going, let me know, cus i might meet you there, or try and snag a seat for the adventure.
2. Ozzy Osbourne has said that Isla Vista, Santa Barbara, California is the "best place to be on Saint Patrick's Day in the United States" {or so i've been told}. I don't know when he said this, cus they boosted up the Mounted Police effort, and Santa Barbara doesn't have nearly as much of a laid back feel as it used to ... but miles of house parties and kegs galore amongst some of the most beautiful landscape and women in the world can't be too hard a sell.
3. I've been dying to do Chicago, since i found out that they die the canals green for Saint Patrick's Day.
