    • Eeyore gets shaken down by the MPS Bobbies, Constitution Hill, Green Park, London

When I first came to the United States, I was appalled at American police. They can be arrogant and rude as they want, and ask you completely irrelevant questions without ever taking off there mirrored sunglasses, and if you point any of this out, you get punished, either by being arrested or getting a ticket. Once my boyfriend and I were visiting friends in Washington D.C. and we were crossing a road on foot near one of the monuments, and a car backed up, right as we were behind it. One of our friends had to jump out of the way, so he slammed the car in anger. Then the owner got out, in police uniform, and our friend immediately backtracked and said "yes, officer, no officer." Scared of the guy. That made me feel I was in a total police state.
Now for the time I was in the back of a police car. My friend and I--back when I lived in Holland--went hitchhiking in England, to one of the national parks. But we got only halfway before nightfall, and we were in a strange town. We didn't want to spend money on a bed and breakfast because our budget allowed only for camping in the wild. So we went to the police station and asked the bobbies there very nicely what we should do. And as I had calculated, two of them offered to drive us to a place just outside of town where we could camp out of sight and relatively safely. Thank you so much, officers!

Remembering helpful police officers everywhere, they do exist... even now, here in North America, well Canada for sure.

Hi there. I only just noticed that I had comments! cobbies: the fact that my friend looked like a supermodel probably also helped. Maggie: yeah, I know. It just seems that there are more arrogant and rude cops than nice ones in America. If they want, they are welcome to prove me wrong.
