      The evolutionary purpose of fear is to preserve life and health.

      Public speaking won't kill me. Nuclear war is a remote possibility, and beyond my personal control. I feel pretty good about my ability to avoid drowning.

      Every single day, in my urban wonderland, a jerk in a car will endanger my life. So, this is a healthy fear. I feel pretty good about it.

      Conscientious drivers, I salute you.
