    • My first job: retail
    • I was a cashier at a local fruit stand. I had to memorize the ever fluctuating prices of produce. In the beginning I made up a lot of prices and yes I may have occassionally made you pay for your lettuce by the pound, not by the head, oops my bad.

At the end of the night all of the cashiers, all girls, had to help put the produce back into the coolers. One of my "co-workers" thought it was very funny to close the cooler door and keep us trapped for a minute, so that was odd. I'm pretty sure he thought he was flirting with us.

In the Fall they had a pumpkin patch. In December they sold Christmas Trees. People loved the 'flocked trees', which I do not understand, but I stood out there on cold nights waiting for families to pick their perfectly flocked tree so I could sell it to them. Those were some cold nights.

I only worked there for about 6 months. I learned a lot about good produce actually. To this day I can always spot a good melon!
