    • Gramma!
    • My grandma on my mom's side... She endured Communist China and somehow managed to come out the sweetest, most positive and most encouraging woman I've ever known, even despite her husband dying at the hands of the Reds, those bastards. I would want to know more details, if she felt up to it, about her escaping China, and then thank her for just being a peaceful, nice, sweet woman who was overwhelmingly kind to everyone she knew, especially me. She was awesome and a perfect role model.

She sounds wonderful. It seems like she had some amazing stories to tell. Are there other family members that she told her stories to that you could get them from and write them down?

My mom knows about some of it, but they also had to be separated for a period of time to aid their escape, so I think there are things my mom doesn't know, too. And I'm really interested in knowing her emotions during this ordeal and how she made peace with her situation. It's crazy that something so awful happened to a generation not at all far from me... and I'm definitely not the only one!
