- My first job: office work
-
My very first was a summer government job with an obscure research arm of the Smithsonian. I was excited to go to a downtown office (but only an anonymous office building, not an actual museum) and the days were spent typing, filing, and organizing papers of one sort or another. I was 17. Sadly, the whole summer's earnings went directly towards the first term of college tuition. It was all of ... $700. (I'm old, see.)
