• Sarcasm: A Blessing and a Curse

I've been told that I'm very sarcastic. Sometimes it's a compliment and sometimes it's not. When I joke around with my friends I'm sarcastic and tease them a lot (they're mostly guys so I don't hurt any feelings), but I can also be sarcastic with people that I get impatient with. So in that way, I guess I'm being a meany. I guess there are some instances when people aren't sure if I'm being sarcastic because I've just met them so I've learned to tone it down a lot.

I think I inherit my sarcasm from my mom and her side of the family. And I think that most of the time it's funny, and some of the time the sarcasm is meant with rude intent. Sometimes it's just easier to be sarcastic with someone instead of saying "Well Duh!" or "Obviously!". At least it can be veiled with humor to make it slightly less offensive when I have to respond to a dumb question. My closest and only gal friend says I should tone it down because I make people feel stupid, so I've been trying REALLY hard since she's told me that. I just need to learn when and when not to incorporate it and who can and cannot handle it.
