- On Acting My Age
One Foot in the Grave..You Must be joking
I did this prompt earlier on, and was pleased with the result but then I pressed the wrong button and whoosh..it all disappeared..so I thought #### it , I will not bother at all.
Now however I have had second thoughts so instead of acting like a petulant child I am having another go...sort of like acting my age!
I have always thought that actual age is irrelevant. You can be in your 30's and be old and act old..whereas if like me you have yet to grow up, you can be any age just as long as you do not act your age
So being 72+ I went to visit my old fella in hospital this week. I have told you before what it is like in there..diabolical..it is boring..nothing to do.. nowhere to go.. nothing to say.. two hours of complete boredom. You can even make an exciting event just going to empty the pepsi 'wee' bottle..something to do.
So there I was sitting on the next bed( all beds unoccupied) swinging my legs..then I had an idea. Let us move all the beds around..that would be fun. You only have to release the foot brake and they would go wizzing across the floor. I was even prepared to sweep up the dirt which was congealed at the rear of the bed.
Even though Neville said that his bed was uncomfortable he would not agree to change beds even if I put the new bed in the same place. I was instructed to leave things alone. What a geek!
Then I spied the handle at the base of one of the beds, so turning it this way and that the bed raised slightly or was lowered..not very exciting! so I left that alone
Normally in hospitals you would find something of interest, a book, a magazine or even a picture on the wall...this had nothing, not even a decent chair to sit on.
So going back to acting your age..why should we? Just because I am 72 am I expected to sit in my rocking chair listening to nothing but the clicking of the needles, one knit, one purl one knit and so on..... NO NO NO..This is not me.
Had I taken more care of my body and retained its suppleness and its lighter weight I might well be skydiving or jumping from aircraft, scaling great heights or even..wait for it..bungie jumping! Well why not?
As it is I am neither a knitter or a jumping twit..I am a blogger and as far as I can see that allows me to be any age I want to be . I can recall my younger years in a flash of memory or I can be serious if need be.
Just an addition ..to save time..and nothing to do with age of any sort.
Neville is home and doing well. Today I saw his stitches when I put a clean dressing . My opinion is that I could have done a much better job blind folded..so never in a million years will he ever win The Rear of the Year !
Thanks all folks
lots of love Patrecia
