- My View on 'Reality' TV
-
When you write about things, you try and see both sides of the coin, always. It's hard this time however. Today I will be giving you my brief views on reality television.
It's a view that has changed over the years as I have aged, as I think it does with many people. I think your view on reality TV will also depend on what type of person you are and what you are interested in.
For me, most of it is plain garbage. The ones that have come about in the past few years such as 'The Only Way Is Essex', 'Made In Chelsea' and some other nonsense are seen to me as highly painful, because of a few things.
#TOWIE may as well be called "we take people that don't really work for a living and are not very interesting nor intelligent and turn them into famous people who still don't do anything and don't deserve the sudden fame that they achieve."
To all the people that watch this rubbish on a weekly basis, I feel sorry for you. Your brain is being fried, and ITV2 is the chef. It's not ideal if your friends watch it too because then, when you get together, all you will want to talk about it how someone went to a bar and did this, then something happened and then the show just ended...
The thing that really gets me with these type of shows also is that they are visibly staged, yet they claim to be 100% real. What's that all about? I'm sure some fanatic will correct me on that but to me it's more like a #SOAP.
I get that once you watch one episode and you begin to learn the characters then you get emotionally attached and you 'need' to see what happens on next weeks episode because let's face it, if you don't, your not 'up to date.'
If your going to do that, get into a program, then just do it with something that is really worth watching. Something that has taken months to just write, with real actors who tell a story and get you hooked after one minute of the program, nevermind one episode.
I would recommend something like #LOST, Heroes, 24, Prison Break, Friends, basically anything that is a little more challenging than reality television.
I don't see why anyone would want to sit and watch someone else live their life, go and live yours. Especially when the one that you sit watching on TV is the one that you crave, or you wouldn't like the show. Would you?
I'm always open to the other side of the coin, and I don't like it because reality tele because it just doesn't stimulate my mind enough. Everyone is different and we all love different things at different times of our life.
I used to love all of the programs mentioned above when I was younger, because I thought that the people on the TV were 'cool'. However, I think that as you grow up you realise that they are nothing, and there are more special people in the world that deserve the fame that some of them 'actors' receive.
I would like to know what you think, I have cut this one short because It's getting a little late and I'm very tired. If you would like to add anything, you can email me or just comment using the form below.
If you would like to follow me then you can do so by clicking here, I also have Facebook. This brings me to another point, Facebook is full of people that crave to be like the people they see on TV. Everyone wanting to be someone else, someone answer my question. Why is this?
