My last difficult goodbye was about as final as they get.

"Best Friends" - Animal Sanctuary - Kanab Utah

This is hard to write. The last difficult goodbye I had to say was to my very best friend. It was 6:00 am and he had gone onto my back porch for reasons that I will never know.

At 6:04, I was awakened by the sound of a dog making the most awful sounds I have ever heard. I ran down the hall, following the sounds, and found my back door sitting open. Looking outside, I saw the dogs mouth around his throat and I screamed something incomprehensible at the dog, scaring him off, then gathered my friend into my arms and held him as he died.

I don't remember much after that except wondering later where all that paint came from and then realizing it was blood, his blood, and that I was covered in it.

I'm sory, I can't talk about it any more right now, it still hurts too bad.
