• No Broken Bones
    • The picture is not my bike but is similar to what it looked like after the accident!

Interesting question! I'm almost 76 years young and have never broken a bone in my body, but I have come close! I've had a few accidents where I could have broken some bones or even be killed, but God had other ideas for me. I think the worst accident was around 1959, I was riding my Harley on the Connecting Hi-way in Queens, New York. I was in the right lane, doing about 50 MPH. A car, driven by a young man, passed me and pulled into my lane and put on his brakes. I slammed on my brakes, only to skid into his rear end. Upon impact, I flew off the bike and onto the cement roadway, sliding a few feet. My shirt and pants were torn and I was bleeding from my elbows, ankles and knees. I looked a mess but, thank God, not a bone was broken. BTW, I was not wearing a helmet as it was not required in those days. Now My friends, who were riding in a car ahead of me came running back to where I lay. Also a police car that had passed on the opposite side of the road made a u-turn and came over to me. The officer looked down at me and said: "Where do you want to go, Creedmore or Bellevue?" He was being sarcastic as both those places were for the insane! I said, "I don't need your help!" My friends helped me get to the ER for medical treatment, where they cleaned up the cuts and bruises and bandaged me up! At the accident scene, the police asked the driver of the car what happened. The young driver said he missed his exit and decided to stop and back up. Imagine! On a hi-way, with speeding cars, he's going to back up! Anyway, I got a new motorcycle from his insurance company and I lived to tell this story :-)
