- Last Movie I Saw in a Theater
-
I recommend this movie, and I intend to buy the DVD when I see it for sale, too.
The last movie I saw in a theater was: "WE BOUGHT A ZOO."
I really liked this movie, and it was based on real events in the life of a widower and his children who now live in San Diego County, California. After his wife passed away, he and the children really needed to move from the home where they had been living to someplace where there was room to grow, and do something different. The father needed a place where he could work from home, in order to have more time with his motherless children. His eldest child, a son, especially, was having difficulty adjusting to life without his mother.
While house shopping, they happened upon a home on the property of a bankrupt zoo. They bought the property, animals and all. And, as they say, "The rest is history." The real name of the zoo is the "DARTMOOR ZOO." The animals were in pretty bad shape, as the funds for feeding them, were very limited, and the new owner, and some of the previous employees began taking things into serious review, and once again, the animals were finally being well fed, and getting needed care of a Veterinarian. Much needed repairs were being done, and eventually, the zoo updated enclosures per new standards, and eventually reopened.
One day, sooner rather than later, I hope to visit their zoo, and see how they have really been doing as zoo, and which animals remain from the original ones. They saved all the animals originally there, but many were old, and probably did not live much longer. I am hoping at least a few of the original animals are still alive. Who knows, maybe I can even do little volunteer work of some kind there, too. You know how I love animals, and wide open spaces, too.
