Beached

For my 15th birthday my brother brought me out to Singapore, where he was living. The city, the beach, the rainy season, and our trip up through Malaysia to the then unspoilt resort of Kuantan, where I watched the enormous moon rise like Venus from the sea, and turned mahogany brown riding the waves in the bay and basking on the pink sand. Mythic month - experiences so different from my upbringing in southern England and chilly Channel crossings to France.
