    • Oh, I still yell out uncouth things all the time
    • I'll go with the "embarrassing to others" interpretation because otherwise it would be all toilet-training issues.

When I was very small, perhaps 4 years old, we went to the Ringling Brothers circus. At one point, there was some sort of pageant, of course. A phalanx of performers passed us, all wearing very shiny outfits and holding very tall crooks. Perhaps they were supposed to be disco shepherds herding the elephants. I was apparently entranced by these big sparkling hooks and their bearers.

So, I yelled out, with an enthusiasm that exceeded my working vocabulary, "Mom! Look at all the hookers!"

Now see a circus with hooker would be nice. As long as they weren't clowns, too.

@mccreath: A hooker's makeup might be mistaken for a clown's facepaint, but I've never seen long, floppy stilettos. :-)

I think I might want to be a disco shepherd.
