- It's only okay to lie if you are my sister.

My sister lies all the time. Her intention is not to harm or hurt feelings. She is not trying to be funny or even rude for that matter. It just comes out. Especially if she finds herself in a awkward situation.
For example:
One time, a friend of hers from school sent Mormon Missionaries to our house. (I don't know why, maybe for all the LIES!!!!!). Anyway, a normal response to Mormons at your front door if you are not interested in their services might be something like, "Oh, no thank you. Although I appreciate what you are doing, I am really not interested but thanks for coming by." But no, my sister said something like, "Oh, um, no you can't send me any instructional Mormon videos....because....because we are moving....to Montana." At least she didn't say Utah, I guess?
Or the time she went to Starbucks on her way to class wearing sweatpants running shoes and the barista asked her, "So, you just finish up with a run?" her response, "Yes." The barista asked, So how much do you run?" And Jessie's response to that? "I try to run a few miles at least a couple times a week."
No she doesn't.
I do not think that lying to strangers is a good thing, but God it makes for great stories.
