    • Meet Me for a Drink at Caps
    • Since the cultural diversity in Northeast Florida is limited I go for local color. Which means non-chain dining options serving fresh seafood or fried 'gator'. You pick. Actually, you don't get to pick. 'Gator' is on my do-not-attempt-to-eat list, so we'll go seafood and beer.

Wine you ask? Ha! We won't even talk about it. Let's just say there is a reason I have an entire room in my home devoted to wine storage and I receive frequent visits from the FedEx man.

      Local color is Caps.

Located on a little spit of sand in between swanky Ponte Vedra (where all the golf pros live) and Vilano Beach, Caps is a great restaurant. But what I like is the oyster bar. We'll spend the day on the Intracoastal wakeboarding with the dolphins, hop off onto the dock with our feet bare, and cozy on up to the beach bar with our toes sinking deep into the sand. We'll dine on steamed oysters and other raw bar delights: Mayport shrimp, Fl stone crab, Ahi sashimi. And since there's the beach on one side and the Intracoastal on the other, I'll share with you a fabulous sunset...something rare: No sunset on the East coast ocean horizon.
