At first I tried going all highbrow and think of some really witty line from some underappreciated obscure indie or art film classic. But my mind just kept drifting back to this almost sappy scene from a fluffy chick flick. Nothing really too clever or deep about the scene itself. But with the backstory building up to it throughout the entire film and the way Kristin Scott Thomas manages to anchor a world of emotion to the simple words, stiff upper lip oh-so-delicately wavering, it just really gets to me.

You, Charlie. It's always been you.
Since first we met so many years ago.
I knew the first moment.
Across a crowded room. A lawn, in fact.
Doesn't matter.Nothing either of us can do on this one.
Such is life.
Friends isn't bad, you know.
Friends is quite something.
