Ah, for the weekly local paper.
2 cents per paper, 1 cent for each insert... the cranky cat three blocks over who would call my boss if the paper wasn't on her doorknob... hands black from rolling fresh newspaper... the staunch reality of weighing my paperbag (44 pounds)... Being excited to pick up my paycheck and disappointed about giving half of it to my route-mate and realizing my share allowed for one [music] CD... walking around in the oppressive summer heat or two feet of snow... having orchestra practice until 5pm, going home, wrapping papers, delivering papers, walking home, doing homework....
I was "fired" on April 1st, via letter attached to my paycheck. The paper had decided to have adults deliver the paper.
By fall, they wanted me back.
No sir, do not miss that.
