      Stow-on-the-Wold .. medieval stocks on the square

      Medieval stocks is what it needs, why because I think I little humilation is what low lives need. Vandals and thugs who pick on others tend to be very brave when in a group but made to face up to what they have done and separated from their little gangs, they are not so brave. So if they were fastened in stocks in a public place and named and shamed and told a few home truths and humilated I think they might think twice before doing it again. Especially if they knew this was the punishment. Locking them up out of public view doesn't help deter them, so why not put them on show in the middle of the town with a placard detailing their crimes. Of course to keep the do gooders happy, throwing rocks, rotting vegatables wouldn't be allowed, but the public would be allowed to speak their mind to the criminal.

      What do you think? a good idea or not?

I don't see anything wrong with people throwing things though they do at fairs wet sponges etc it would be like that only say with tomatos. A few tomatos being thrown at them would soon damage their street cred, having this done to them say in front of their boyfriend/girlfriend would be the worst, i know i wouldn't like to sit in the middle of the town on a saturday locked in the stocks (like the girl in the photo) being pelted with rotten veg and everybody would film it on their phones so it would be all over youtube, and their clothes would be ruined! if it did ever happen to me i think i would wear old clothes and very few they would never get clean,but i think that would be the least of my worries! luv to hear more of your ideas claire xxx clairehardy1990@yahoo.co.uk
