Ephesus was an ancient Greek city founded in the 10th century BCE. It was one of the 12 cities of the Ionian league and is a huge site containing the biggest collection of Roman ruins east of the Mediterranean. They say only around 15% of the ruins have been excavated.
(Kusadasi is the port city that I traveled through to get to the ruins of Ephesus.)
