    • But it was so pretty...
    • I hate to say it but it's my wedding dress.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE my wedding dress. It was perfect in every way. It sparkled, had a beautiful full skirt and the bodice gave me a skinny little wasitline.

So after the wedding, I had it boxed up and preserved forever. That is what you are supposed to do, right? I have no idea why I did this. It is not like I am ever going to wear it, let alone fit in it again. It is not like anyone else would want to wear it or borrow it. Although, my sister did admit to trying it on after the wedding while it was waiting to go into its keepsake box. When I asked her why she would do that her response was, "Because I was alone in a house with a wedding dress. And I am a woman." Touche.

So now, I don't have a wedding dress, I have a large obnoxious box. But I still am not sure I am ready to part with it. Now, I am going out on a limb here admitting to this. I typically don't have trouble parting with things. I believe in things having sentimental value but come on! Why on earth would you still keep your sticker collection from 3rd grade? Or, hang onto something ugly just because someone you feel is important/special gave it to you! Grant and I are huge fans of Peter Walsh of Clean Sweep on TLC. Grant is famous for his Peter Walsh impression, in fact. Peter has a way of making people realize that the "thing" that they are hanging onto is not actually the person or the memory it reminds them of. In fact, by keeping something in a closet, you are not honoring that person or memory at all. I couldn't agree more Peter! But this is my wedding dress!

Yes Grant, I know, "Heather, this wedding dress is not your grandmother." I get it. But for now, I am hanging onto it. I might consider getting rid of it when we finally get to use the closet it's in for someone else even more special than the dress.

Have you ever seen Beetlejuice? The thought of being resurrected from the grave and re-moleculing into your wedding dress may have you handing the thing off to Goodwill. Or slicing it up and making duvet covers out of it!
