I think the two should settle down together somewhere. Maybe North Dakota has enough room for the combined egos. West Texas, maybe.
Imagine them trying to negotiate the real world. Californians without the surf and sun? I suspect the newyorkers would manage the change better if they could keep their beloved city. It would still be New York if you moved it to the moon. Take away that infrastructure and watch them wander the hinterlands en mass trying to find their way home.
The change of scene would do wonders for Television.
