• This is in answer to:
  • Are you a dog person or a cat person? See all answers
    • I'm a dog person (not to be confused with a dog-person)
    • I've heard the argument that cat people are less dependent because their pets hate them, and that dog people are weak because dogs are friendly and appreciate attention from their owners. I understand why people say this: because they are foolish.

      Think about humans. Do you choose friends who treat you like crap, couldn't care less if you were in the room, and generally parade around as though the world owes them something? (If you answered "yes," you are either in junior high school and/or need therapy.) Of course not. You pick friends who aren't jerks to you.

      Cats = jerks.

      Dogs = pals.

      Case closed.

    Hmm..interesting! so I answered that I'm a cat person. My cat never treats me like crap, truly cares if I'm in the room, and never parades around the house like the world owes her something. She wakes me up with purrs and kisses....follows me around the house and loves my son. She sleeps w/ him and is such a sweet, caring and affectionate part of our family. You sure you feel so strongly about kitties?? Theyre not all half that bad. =)

    "Jerks" may have been a little harsh, dear.

    Generalizing a bit, there, aren't ya? :-) Just like people, there are plenty to prove the exception on both sides. Granted, their reputations proceed them, but stereotypes don't work here any more than they do with humans. Bottom line, "You pick friends who aren't jerks to you," whether they'd be a dog OR a cat. :-D
