When looking for a good dessert what else is there to consider other than cheesecake?

It might just be me, but there is nothing as glorious as a baked cheesecake. Or even in despereate times those horrid mascarpone based chilled ones. A friend and I went there, but didn't have space for dessert when there, so had to buy a piece to take away. Even many hours later, not kept in the best of conditions it was wonderful. How much better would it have been fresh?
