    • The wonder of Studio Ghibli is not something that can be easily expressed in words. Their body of work has to be seen, then seen again, then moved right to the front of the DVD collection and worshipped like cinematic deities. I have whole scripts and soundtracks damn near memorised, I've seen them so much.

This might be sacrilege to say to you, but here goes: I don't like anime. It is trite and mind-numbingly dull.
And everything Miyazaki does with Ghibli is indeed divine. Stunning animation, bright and original storytelling. Just please don't talk to me about Neon Genesis, Berserk, etc etc.

Ah, you've not offended me. Anime isn't to everyone's tastes. Truth be told, there's a large swathe of it that's atrocious and nothing but an embarrassment to its creators. Miyazaki's work is in a league of its own, far and away the best of its kind.
And hey, at least you like Ghibli. My best gal friend won't watch animation, period. Not even The Simpsons. That, I find weird.

I bow down to Studio Ghibli. Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle have to be my favorites, but I still remember getting hooked on those works back with Kiki's Delivery Service and Spirited Away.
    What genius.

Haven't watched anime in ages but I love the old stuff like Yuyu Hakushu, Samurai X, and Hunter X Hunter.
