    • Fifth Avenue, Take Me Away!
    • My idea of shopping is Fifth Avenue, New York City.

My skyscraper-tall strappy heels clicking down the posh store-lined street, my Burberry flute skirt sashaying in the breeze. I wear a headband that matches my skirt and gigantic Chanel sunglass covering my eyes.

On my arm is a smart, roomy Fendi ‘Magic Bag’, and in one hand I hold a Starbucks while in the other I grasp a sparkly, pink, rhinestone leash with my lop bunny, Mr. Peanut, harnessed to it.

Down E 57st we go to Dior, Chanel, Burberry. We round the corner to Fifth and hit Bergdorf, Prada, Fendi, Ferragamo, Escada, and Saks, oh my!

Inside the shops we’re treated to refreshments of champagne and crudités (Mr. Peanut gets fresh water and an ear massage).

      And then...

      I wake up.

Seriously. I’m a laid-off, unemployed, grad student who has yet to locate her secret trust fund (oh, but I’m sure it exists. Somewhere).

It’s TJ Maxx, Marshalls, JCrew, Ann Taylor, and Banana Republic discount OUTLETS for this stars-in-her-eyes girl ,-)

As I read the first half of your post, I felt a slight grimace sneak into my expression. But when I read about the outlets, I felt relieved and comfortable again. Good luck on that trust fund.

Holy crap I actually believed all that before the dream bit. Sad part is my biggest concern was "Where the hell will they massage your bunnies ears? HoLY SHIT ARE YOU PARIS HILTON?!" Ditto on the grimmace. Altho I was torn between the insanity of it all and the adorableness. Also, i want the shades.

Nice one. I remember your dessert post was set in NYC as well--sounds like a long busy weekend there...

My wife does the TJ Maxx thing, which is good, because when I go in there I am stressed out of my mind. TJ Maxx shopping could drive me to living in a cave just wearing rags.

That sounds fantastic! The dream part. The non-dream part sounds like my low-budget life. In my dream shopping life Marc Jacobs is custom outfitting me.
