- You learn something new every day

Everybody told me turning 30 was truly scary- that you're a "real proper grown up". That you're old. I imagined in my 20's that by 30, I would be a sane, practical woman, with a plan for the future. I'm still diddling around somewhere at the bottom of my career ladder, but I ran with the bulls in Pamploma once. I discovered that turning 30 was fabulous- it's the age of confidence. I like myself, something I've strived for all my life. Hey, I'm good enough. I like my body- so I might be short, I wear heels everyday. I like my face, I wear glasses but I have big green eyes and a fabulous smile. I'm really, really, really loud, but I'm charming and funny. I noticed as I got older I started to focus on the things I like about myself instead of the flaws, and suddenly (don't get me wrong I'm no super model), I don't notice the flaws so much anymore. I learned how to pose in a photo so I look nice. I know how to carry myself now- I'm still learning how to strike a conversation with people I don't know (a horrible side effect of being a parent and attending 'coffee mornings'), but I'll keep trying and I know get there eventually. I think I'm getting better with age (like good cheese), and if this is how I am for my 30's, I can hardly wait to see what my 40's will bring (hopefully not a break down!).
