    • It's why they pass out headphones on the airplane
    • Look, I'm a girl, so by nature I could and do talk for hours. HOURS. Give me a comfortable chair, a glass of lemonade and a good friend and I'm set. Come pick me up tomorrow.

However, if I don't know you? If there isn't a huge chance we'll ever see each other again or at least be involved much? I'd just prefer to pretend like you aren't there. It's nothing personal, I swear.

      It's not you, I'm sure you're a lovely person, it's me.

I don't like to small talk.

Caleb on the other hand, loves nothing more than striking up a conversation with a stranger. We used to frequent the dog park, and I'd stand back near the gate, arms folded watching the dogs run, and he'd be up in the middle of the action talking to someone. It's part of the reason he's so good at his job, and precisely why I could never be a salesman.

      Saleswoman. Whatever.

Each time I get off an airplane after flying solo and slump into the car seat next to Caleb he always asks me who I met on the plane, and what we talked about.

      Umm....no one?

      Oh. Were you sitting alone?

No....there was someone next to me...we just didn't talk.

Whereas if I'm the one picking him up, he greets me and immediately launches into a detailed description of who sat next to him, their job, where they live, and what makes them tick.

It's the reason we started dating actually, Caleb's persistent attempts to get to know me despite the fact that I had sworn off all high school boys.

I like to joke that it was because he was so manipulative. But he's not. He's just a good talker.
