- Skulking in the shadow of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

[WARNING: boring answer] I would like to meet some minor celebrities that I admire. Can't say that has really happened.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Saw him at the Tower Records near UCLA. Remember when people had to enter stores to buy CDs? Yeah, me neither. As was typical of my behavior in collage, I skulked along in the shadows, being careful not to interact with humanity. I did a good job of only seeing Kareem in the corner of my eye. Anyway, in LA, you are supposed to give celebrities no special attention (so I have read).
Norm Abrams from This Old House
Was late to airplane flight transfer, ran past him in the sprawling Dallas Airport. This really sucked. I really admire Norm Abrams. I would have liked to shake his hand. But I was running past, trying to navigate the stupidly designed Dallas Airport. The usual "Hurry Up And Wait" crap the airlines always play on airplane flight transfers.
Randy Johnson
Saw Randy Johnson in the Phoenix Airport right after his 2001 World Series win for the Diamondbacks. He was just walking through the airport. It was weird, people only recognized him after he walked past (giant of a man), so he was not mobbed at all. I don't follow baseball, so I didn't really care, but the whole thing was strange.
BenoƮt Mandelbrot, father of fractal geometry
Mandelbrot gave an underwhelming lecture at UCLA. Just a stupid fractal slideshow. Now I think his findings in economics are more interesting.
My wife and daughter
If the Plinky prompt was "Who can you fart loudly nearby?", my wife and daughter would be #1 and #2 on the list. (My dog would be #3.) This might explain why I am not a member of the jet-set.
