    • David from Sesame Street and I are practically best friends
    • David from Sesame Street
David was the guy that Mr. Hooper left his store to in his will. I was a big fan of Sesame Street as a child and my mom is very open about the fact that it did serve as a babysitter at times and she would also use it to tell time:

"Mom, how long is the drive to Grandma's?"
      "Three Sesame Streets."

For some reason that answer was always good enough for me.

On my family's one and only trip to Disneyland, David was also there with his wife and children. I remember running up to him with a bunch of other kids. What my parents remember more was that he quickly put the hand that he had his cigarette in behind his back and handed it off to his wife. I think all the parents were happy about his quick thinking.

      Sally Fields
I saw Sally Fields at an airport when I was a freshman in high school. I had been on a school trip for the choir in LA and we were on our way home. (Feel free to take some time to laugh at the fact that I was a choir nerd.)

This was during the time when you did not have to get practically naked to get onto a plane and have your ID checked 400 times and you could actually wait for your loved ones' plane to come in at the gate.

Our choir director came over to a group of us and whispered, "Don't make a big deal about this but Sally Fields is standing to the right of you."

One loud and very boisterous girl stood up and said, "Well I am going to go meet her!" Of course we all tagged along. So poor Sally Fields was bombarded by a group of about 15 teens. She was so tiny that I think I could have put her in my pocket. She immediately threw her hands up and said, "No autographs."

We granted her that courtesy but she was unable to escape a few minutes of nervous giggling and butt kissing.

I think of that day any time I hear someone mention "Osteoporosis."

      Ben Folds.
It is pretty unlikely that you will ever get to meet one of your favorite celebs but we got lucky.

Just a few weeks ago, Ben Folds played at the Fox Theater in Oakland and because Grant is part of the fan club or he is magical or something, he sent me an email a few days before the show that said something like: "We won a meet and greet with Ben Folds after the show, backstage."

And then I crapped my pants.

We got to spend about 3 minutes with him and got one quick picture on our iphone and then it was over.

      It was awesome.

"Three Sesame Streets." That's awesome! I'm borrowing that for future time-length announcements. (Our ETA is one CSI: Miami and 3 Samantha Who?s)

Ben Folds was the concert that made concerts ok with me for life. I just wanted to share that with you. Also the fact that I'm insanely jealous; I wanted to share that, too.
