I was writing a poem, and each verse was a different saying or aphorism re-written so that it contained primarily words beginning with one letter. The first verse used "A" alliteration, the second was "B". There were to be, of coures, twenty-six verses.

Did I mention the unifying theme? There was one, although I can't seem to remember what it was. That was the sticking point. I kept making it to "B" or "C" and having to begin again because my little alliterative proverbs kept sneaking off the subject or contradicting one another.
