- I'm invisible?
-
I'll bet that the male population would first seek to gratify a voyeuristic urge, while the female population would first use their powers to eavesdrop on what other people think of them. Be honest now -- am I right?
Some of us would realize that, if they have this power, many others probably do, too. In fact, there could be someone you know watching you right now! This might be the most pivotal moment in history -- as we all realize that we might be watched at every moment, would we all start to behave as model citizens? Or would we all choose to be invisible all the time and watch civilization collapse around us?
[There have been a few books about being actually (not metaphorically) invisible -- H. F. Saint wrote a nice one in the 80s. There are practical issues, like what happens when you eat, and there are emotional ones, like being lonely.]
