Sunday July something 1958
I went of on a 96 hour liberty pass from the Navy
Got on my brand new 1958 Triumph tiger motorcycle
Rode up to Santa Maria CA
The people I knew there said "we're going up to Atascadero to the scrambles"(a type of motor race)
We went
When we got there someone there said why don't you?
Broke out the handy Triumph tool kit
removed the fenders, lights and other street crap.
The local BSA dealer{Joe Brown} loaned me some stuff
Watched the practice sessions
Borrowed a helmet.
Levis, tennies, borrowed helmet, and Triumph {I won}
Second biggest mistake of my life.
Nothing is more seductive than success.
Took me 24 years to quit that mistress.
