• Willy Wonka, you were my hero.
    • Like any normal kid, I imagine, I was a big fan of candy. Although I don't think I was deprived of candy as a child, we rarely had it in the house and it was mostly a Halloween and Christmas occurrence. When it was in the house I was always jealous of A. how adults were aloud to eat as much as they wanted without asking and B. Since they were aloud to eat as much as they wanted how they could possibly have self restraint and not eat the entire bowl in one sitting like I dreamed of doing.

I remember going to the frozen yogurt place around the corner from our house and of course my favorite part was the topping. I remember thinking that what would be way cooler than a yogurt store was a topping store. I guess no one had the heart to burst my bubble and tell me that this novel idea already existed in the form of a candy store.

So, I don't know if it is obvious by now or not but my fantasy as a child was for the entire world to be made of candy. The walls, my bed, the trees, my desk, my little sister. Ahhhh, the innocence of a child. Not caring about all the weight I would gain and simply wanting to be able to pick a 3 Musketeers bar from the candy bar tree in my back yard and be able to play in the jelly bean rain.

Did it come true? Um, no. But really I am thankful for that as an adult, seeing as I gain 5 pounds if I so much as think about a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.

I want the lickable wallpaper and the flowers that are really sugar tea cups that you can take a bite out of! My family owns a Powell's Sweet Shoppe and the entire store is a Willy Wonka theme. When it opened we tried to think of a way to create the lickable paper for the B-day party room, but could think of nothing sanitary. We did however create that candy tree you want!
