I am assuming the word 'hawk' is used in its general sense of bird-with-big-beak-and-claws, as in this definition in which case I would put my money on the hawk. Shooting out of the sun, claws ripping into the cat's back, pulling tendons and flesh apart, pulling the cat up into the air to a height and then letting it go to be dashed to its death on the rocks below.
