    • In the course of the last 5 years, my wife and I have been to somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 funerals. About two a year. My grandparents, her grandparents, my father, her father, assorted friends, mentors, and elderly family members.

I didn't, like most sentient people, care for "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." But I did find myself tearing up at the line, "We've reached the point of our lives where we stop having things given to us, and start having them taken away."

      I concur.

Recently I was in an off mood, and I found myself thinking, "Well, at least I haven't been to a funeral lately."

      So there you go.

Funerals really have a way of putting life into perspective. Even though I have been to many myself, it's still almost unfathomable to realize that I won't live forever.

It's tough to do the macabre dance with our loved ones. Every long lasting relationship ends with "me or you" and it's bitter medicine to be the one left living. I'm sorry to hear about such a tough period, but thanks for the post. I wouldn't have considered that much loss possible in so short a time. Thanks.
