You just found a bus pass on the ground. It'll get you somewhere within 50 miles and back – where do you go?

I'm not sure if London is within 50 miles, but that's where I'd go.

I'd go there because I have this strong patriotic streak in me (why, I don't know) but I feel kinda bad I've only been to the capital a few times.

Plus, I love it. I live in the most rural or rural places. Seriously, my garden is a field. I love the buzz and excitement of cities, the way that if you don't want to smile and say hi to the person walking opposite, you don't have too! Not like where I live, where everyone is everyone else's next door neighbour/gran/third cousin and if you don't smile, wave and engage in conversation about the raspberry crop this year you're shunned by all.

Cities with their lights and people and atmosphere make me feel profound. Like a very small cog in a very big machine. Regardless of the size/importance of me, I am still there, part of this huge heaving landscape full of special people and special places and special ideas.

I love London.
