All of us knew exactly where the container with white candles, matches and the jar lids that we could use to stand the candles. We would sit around the candles and read until our eyelids would droop. Each of us would take one candle to the bathroom to clean up before going to bed. I was paranoid about leaving candles burning, so I would drown the candle in the sink before going to sleep.
