- Helping requires walking . . .
-
There are times I want to walk away from it all . . . the looks, the job, the money . . . the rules, the games . . .
and if I did . . .
I would go back to Asia, specifically India . . . choosing to work either in a leper colony or an orphanage (and yes I have seen these) . . . it is the untouchables I've always had compassion for, never been afraid of nor been repulsed by . . . they are as hungry for acceptance, for touch, for love as we are . . . for respect. And I have an abudance to unleash and the where with all to face that wind.
When you have all, you want nothing . . . when you have nothing, you appreciate all that is given.
This capacity towards the unwanted, it is a reciprocation on my part for the goodness, the kindness that was shown towards me in the midst of "finding" between continents. And it came from the most unlikely of sources . . . the quiet . . . the good . . . the kind. The salt that seems most plain but sets the course that brings out the best.
And if I choose to stay here . . .
I would start an organization to give people a second chance . . . because we all need one, and sometimes more than one. It would be for the homeless, the jobless, the addict, the lost, the gay, the straight, the young, the old. Their desire for more, for better, for good being the only criteria (and yes there are those who choose to not recoup). And because the unsavoriness of life is considered ugly to most, they too are looked at as untouchables . . . but they wouldn't be.
But, since I am at present in this present . . . I do help feed the homeless, whether they are in shelters or teens on the streets . . . I walk up to them . . . and sometimes, because I have all . . . I forget to walk.

I'm seldom seen as humbled or apologetic
Your words humble me
Thank you
